Have you read the history of the kiwi? If so, you already know a large part of the Zespri story. The Zespri Green kiwis that we eat today came into being thanks to the green fingers of Hayward Wright.  

However, to turn kiwis into a success story, you need more than green fingers and fertile soil. As the kiwi became more and more popular worldwide, there was increasing need for a genuine marketing organisation to which all the growers were attached. In 1970 the New Zealand Kiwifruit Marketing Board was set up. 

In 1996 the Board was renamed Zespri International Limited. The Hayward kiwis became Zespri Kiwis.
