Know what you’re eating

Do you like to know what you’re eating? And how much a piece of fruit, a chocolate bar or that soft drink “contributes” to what you can or should eat and drink in a day in order to remain healthy? To help you find out, there’s the Guideline Daily Amount (GDA), an initiative of European food manufacturers.

The GDA gives information on the amount of fats, sugars, fibre, etc. and the energy value (number of calories) of a food product. You are given the number of grams and the percentage of the Guideline Daily Amount. In this way you can work out the degree to which the product “contributes” to what you should eat or drink in a day.

Every 100 g-portion of Zespri Gold (approximately one kiwi) contains: of the Guideline Daily Amount (GDA) for an adult, based on a daily intake of 2,000 kcal
